Christmastime is so magical to me. It's the time of year where I stop to think of everyone in my life. Actually stop. I'm always, in some way, thinking of them after all they are a part of my life. At Christmas it's different.

I think of my nieces and nephews and how adorable their little faces are when they are opening their gifts. How much I enjoy their individuality and buying them something to reflect that.

I think of my extended relatives and to whom I will send a card to this year. As I address their card I think of their immediate family and how they spend their time together.

I think of my immediate family and how much they mean to me. I think of how special my mom is, how distant my father is, how beautiful my sisters are and how blessed my brother is.

I think of my friends. What each one means to me. It warms my heart.

I think of my husband, daughter, and dog. How they bring joy to me without even trying. How I can re-live Christmas through my daughter. How I always put a gift under the tree for my dog and how I can make my husband's gift this year even better than last.

This year I add to this, my clients. My amazing clients! I think of how each of you have let me into your lives to document your love, lives, and dreams.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone in my life. I look forward to spending 2011 with each and every one of you! Enjoy the video I posted below of my lil lady singing her favorite Christmas song in her holiday dress.

You will have to brace yourself for adorableness with this next shoot. This sweet little face has been in my heart since before she was born. I photographed her momma when she was pregnant, was there for her newborn pictures, snuggled with her for three month pictures and now showing you her six month shoot.

Santa's Reindeer!?

I don't know if these two will be pulling any sleighs on Christmas Eve but they sure will be cute on a Christmas Card!

Gus and Charlie have been my dress up subjects once before and if you have a treat in hand they will wear and do anything. I just love dogs!

These two are the four legged children of a friend of mine and despite her husband's pleas for her not to, she chose to have these two photographed for their Christmas Card. I think the idea is splendid! Have a look for yourself!

Lily insisted on having her picture taken with Lara and Charlie too! So cute!

Today is a great day to post a beautiful wedding from this past fall. I am gearing up to photograph three weddings over the next seven days. In doing so I always visit websites that inspire me, take casual shopping trips to boutiques of style, and review my past weddings.

This wedding is one of my inspirational weddings. I love all the details and the classic beauty of this wedding. The bride steals the looks of the room and the groom has such a calming presence about him.

Although I was working all day it didn't feel like it. I thoroughly enjoyed just being there. Thanks for a great day and best wishes to the both of you Jeff and Jenn!

Who is up for some seriously cute Christmas baby pictures!? I can't believe how quickly Christmas is approaching. I can't believe how quickly all my bellies2Babies clients are growing too!

Liviana is one of my bellies2Babies clients and this is her six month shoot combined with family pictures. Her mom is a photographer friend of mine and I always use the heck out of her studio when I'm in town to shoot her lil lady! I feel so lucky to have great friends like this crew!

Thankful for... week two!

This week I am going cliche. I am thankful for my family! I was in Fargo this past weekend (a great place to be from) and without my family the weekend jam packed with photo shoots couldn't have gone as smooth as it did.

We, as always, stayed with my mom. As the Ringdahl clan invaded her home with our toddler and dog in tow my mom welcomed us with a big hug and a glass of wine. LOVE THAT! The next day we wake up early to have a hot breakfast with a pot of coffee waiting for us. Seriously! I know she's my mom but how wonderful is that? I can not thank her enough. Love you mom!

Secondly my sister Autumn. She is sixteen years my younger and couldn't be a better sister if she tried. She stays by my side the entire trip assisting me as needed. The best part of it all is if I buy her a burger she'll do anything!

Lastly my wonderful husband. Without him changing diapers, carrying luggage, backing up data, and taking the dog out I would be in total stress. Without him I am only half of me. I love you all and am thankful for my family!

This month I am going to post about things I am thankful for. November is an easy month to forget to stop and smell the turkey. We are winding down from our fall festivities, preparing for Christmas and jumping into the new year that we completely forget to stop and be thankful for November.

November is that in-between month where we put away our Halloween decorations, try to avoid overeating the remaining treats and schedule out the rest of the year with family visits, shopping, shopping, and shopping!

So let me take this month to slow down and be thankful. I am thankful for November. A slower month for me to catch up at work, refill my inspiration tank, and enjoy precious time with my family and friends. The series of images below are of a dear friend of mine and her family. Celeste and I have been friends for less than five years and it feels like a lifetime. I am thankful for you Celeste. Three kids and married over ten years she still looks amazing!

Normally when I post I try to be consecutive with my photo shoots but this shoot turned all that around for me. Especially since I have a bunch of summer weddings to be blogged yet!

Since we are all in the fall mood I wanted to share with you one of my favorite shoots. The concept for this shoot was Happily Ever After. When Jenny contacted me she said that her and her husband's 1st anniversary is in October and they really wanted to capture who they were after a year of marriage. No pending nuptials in mind, just love.

Not only did Joel and Jenny come completely prepared with props, accessories, and snuggling ability but they picked the best place for their shoot. Who doesn't love picking apples, snuggling in pumpkins and frolicking in corn mazes with their loved one!?

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays by far. I love the fall colors brought together by pumpkins, cooler weather and children trick-or-treating. This year I photographed children in their costumes at Grand Avenue's Boo Bash and it was a huge success. Despite the not so lovely weather we had a great turn out and I met tons of goblins, kitties, miscellaneous Disney characters and dogs in costume.

Look at this precious bundle of snuggles! I get in trouble when I come home from a newborn session because I'm dripping with baby fever.

I just love their flawless complexions, perfect eyes, noses and toeses. How they instantly smell like they've been born on a bed of baby powder is so lovely in it's own way. I suppose you need to be a mother or a woman ready to be one to appreciate these little perfections.

For now you can all appreciate it in photos.

Summer Tea Party!

When thinking of what to do, when I photographed Lily's summer pictures, the ONE thing I kept going back to is how much she loves her babies. This girl won't be caught without tending to a baby in some way.

In order to get her to the dinner table it is always a process to make sure her babies have blankets and are all tucked in until she gets back to them. Walks nowadays take us at least a half of an hour to get two blocks because we have to stuff one to three babies in her stroller to leisurely take them with us.

All this in mind I just had to incorporate taking care of babies in her summer shoot. What better way to do so than giving them a tea party!?

Matt + Holly

Every once in a while I get what I call mystery clients. Clients that were referred to me by another bride or photographer and we don't meet until their engagement shoot.

Matt and Holly were just that, although they felt far from a mystery to me. Matt and Holly have a way of wearing their hearts on their sleeves and making you feel like you've known them for years. You can see the love between these two, it is so prominent.

Matt and Holly were married on the beach of Cragun's Resort in Brainerd, MN this past July. Outdoor ceremony with a adventurous pontoon ride that we almost sunk. Yes! The boat almost sank! "Thank goodness I switched media cards before I got on the boat" is what went through my head as I was rushed to the back of the boat. Everyone quickly regrouped and made for a wonderful evening.

Miss Christina

I met Christina a little over a year ago when I photographed a handful of weddings with her as a second photographer. Christina contacted me recently to photograph her for some business portraits and I jumped at the chance because not only is she quite photogenic but I missed seeing her so much at our weddings.

Andrew + Celeste

I had an amazing time photographing Andrew and Celeste on their wedding day. Celeste was a very laid back bride with many amazing details and Andrew could not have been more pulled together. Even when he had to choreograph the ceremony chairs being set up right at the time the ceremony was to start. He kept his cool.

Celeste and Andrew chose the amazingly beautiful University Club in Downtown St. Paul for their reception and Mears Park for their wedding. When I heard that they were getting married right across from my favorite tequila bar, Barrio, I suggested we head in there for some pictures. As completely open and flexible this couple were they went for it and the pictures turned out just as I had imagined them.

With weddings, there are always too many pictures for me to choose to post, so here is a little taste of how their wedding day went.

Happy Birthday Lara!

Although Lara's birthday was earlier this month I'm still going to post her super fun birthday present today! This year was the first of Lara's 29th birthday's. Lara and I have been friends for years and she continues to be so supportive and a big part of our family I wanted to do something super special for her birthday this year.

I chose to photograph three of the closest women to her in her life. Her mom, grandmother, and godmother. When I mentioned this to these ladies they were so excited to be a part of my gift and photographed so beautifully together.

I chose this first image as Lara's gift. Who wouldn't love a photograph of their closest enjoying each other on a beautiful summer morning?

"Trash" the dress

I dislike the term "trash the dress". It was a category created to describe photographing the bride and sometimes the groom the day after or on another scheduled date after their wedding. I guess the term makes sense in the idea that the dress may get dirty or could even be submerged in mud or water. I still don't like the word trash. So I've used terms like Day after Diva or bridal portrait but I still don't feel like those entirely fit, especially when the groom is involved.

This particular session was a blast for me to photograph. I was able to use some elements and poses that I'd been daydreaming about for months. The bridal bouquet was created by the talented Tami at Studio B Floral.

Carley + Jordan

When wedding season is at its fullest and I'm chasing brides and creating magic I sometimes find myself needing to cleanse the creative pallet. Whether it be a foreign film, a trip down a creative path (shopping), or just to photograph something so simple it's perfect.

Carley and Jordan are just that. They are perfect. Sweet, young and in love.

Reading books together, going on walks, and more than anything just being together is what they enjoy. They've found love.

I am so excited to announce the official opening of Make it Grand!

Make it Grand is a collaboration of independent wedding vendors coming together to provide a service like no other. The space is set up like an intimate wedding fair that never ends.

I'm very excited to start networking with a bunch of amazing wedding professionals that have met the high standards of Make it Grand. There is everything from photography to customized wine labels for your wedding or event.

Although my space is still a work in progress I wanted to share photos with you. At Make it Grand I will be able to meet with you, my clients, to preview your images and place print orders. No more coffee shops! No more pressure to drink caffeine after 7 p.m. I have also showcased many canvases to show their high quality for when you want to purchase some for your home. I will be putting together some albums for all my brides to see too!

Sweet Neighbors

I have had the pleasure of living next door to these two crazy kids for the past five years now and they both sure have made their way into our hearts. Each one affectionately called Nana and Popa by Lily, not sure if it's because they have grey hair or that she just feels so affectionate towards them.

I gifted a photo shoot to them because they are leaving us for a life journey to Germany for three weeks. Eric, our very German neighbor, has been diagnosed with cancer. He has endured many rounds of chemo and will be having hyperthermia treatments over a three week period in Germany. As I am very excited about this treatment for him and look forward to great news when they get home I wanted to capture them before they left.

It was important to me that I captured them in the full essence of their life. Meaning the simple things. The things that no matter where you are they never change. Like Maribeth laughing at some crazy story that Eric is telling.

Miss Tay {2011 Fargo South Senior}

Miss Taylor, my first Fargo {ya I travel} Senior of 2011 and what a great way to start out the year!

Taylor, was amazing to photograph. You will see from the images I've posted. I think she's been watching America's Top Model because she fell exactly into each pose as I directed her. She even had her picture taken near a sleeping outdoorsy person, bird poop and the ever lovely plumber's crack without a complaint. I also had her wrangling mysterious creatures in the Red River grassy wildlife with a chair. All for amazing pictures. Not once can you tell she's being eaten by bugs or fighting off scratching her 1st layer of skin off.

All I can say about this beautiful young lady is watch out world!

A little something sweet

I wanted to start off the week with a little something sweet. Little Lucy is so sweet in her pictures below you won't need to eat candy for a week!

Many of times I sit in my backyard thinking how great it would be if I photographed a child here or a family there or even a dog here. It was then that I realized I've created a backyard studio without even knowing it. I guess when you're a visual artist it applies to all walks of your life.

With my Stargazer Lilies at full bloom I knew I couldn't wait long to get a baby in my birdbath and get some amazing pictures. Agreed?

Family Fun

I love how two year olds NEVER want to get their picture taken! Then come the bribes, the songs, and the tricks up my sleeve and we get what we need. I think a lot of the time the parents feel exhausted and defeated as if we didn't get any pictures. I know the feeling, I have a two year old that is sick of the camera being pointed at her.

None the less, we not only got some pictures of the family but we got REALLY great shots! The kids' mom is my long lost step sister, Heidi. It was so great to see her as life really has separated us the past ten years and we've grown into such different people. Catching up was necessary.

After emailing back and forth about locations I finally convinced Jessica to have her family photographed at her grandpa's old farm house and I'm so glad I did! Despite the crazy flat land wind and a toddler that was trying to induce a concussion during the shoot we got some amazing images.

I love all the faces Carter makes and how his mom and dad so calmly work around his body flailing. My favorite part of it all though is in the background of most of the images sits a truck that hasn't moved since her grandpa parked it there. He holds a big place in her heart and I'm glad he made it into her family pictures too.

Rohne Boys

18 months and 8 days old the Rohne boys are growing up! Ok 8 days isn't much yet for Nolan but I couldn't believe how much lil' Drew has grown into a handsome boy. He used to have strawberry red hair with the cutest little baby face. Now it's getting blonder and his face is losing the baby look. He's full of energy and his lil brother doesn't seem to be phased by it at all. They will be great friends someday.

Nolan gave his mom and I a hard time during pictures because he just wanted to be snuggled by mom and fed on call. Not bothered by a lady with a big black camera that keeps making clicking noises. HMMMM Do they ever grow out of that? It's a good thing babies are so deliciously adorable so every picture is a good picture!

Ross and Heather {engaged}

Although they no longer work together, at work is where they met. The cool part of their story is neither of them do the same type of work or work at the same place. Yet a brief moment in their history had them together at the right place at the right time.

Hollywood is Calling!

Yesterday I got my deal of a lifetime! I got a zoom lens for less than $200! Now anyone in the photography profession can appreciate that to it's fullest. I had been debating over and over and over and over again wether or not to spend the $2500 on the newest and best out there. Then a little birdie (my neighbor Roee who is also an amazing photographer) suggested I get something used or less than perfect. Not that I didn't know that it existed I just hadn't put it into perspective that I could do that and be satisfied!

After purchasing my lifetime of a steal I, of course, scurried home to start using it and the results have already paid me back! I LOVE my new lens, see for yourself. This is a picture of my lil lady who by no means wanted her picture taken. Why? Well you see it's because her bangs are messy!!! Kids.

I photographed an amazing surprise birthday party for one of my clients not too long ago and it was amazing to say the least. My client's mother turned 75 and was surprised by her family from all over the country. The tears were endless and so were the smiles. I'm so thankful I was a part of this. I love my clients!

This lil lady is one of my bellies2Babies clients and I'm delighted to be able to watch her grow. This session is of her at 3 months. I'm amazed at how fast kids grow. I've never measured time until I had a child of my own.

I had originally planned on photographing Sadie outside in the grass snuggled into some spring flowers but as we all know spring in Minnesota isn't trustworthy and rain and cold cancelled our plans. I'm more than happy with what the indoors allowed us to do too. If you can't get texture and color from the earth find something inside that will give it to you.

Earth's Splendor

When this jewelry fashionista contacted me to photograph her jewelry I was delighted. One of my weaknesses, other than shoes and handbags, is jewelry. So to spend a day filing through her gorgeous custom designs while picking the best piece of earth to display them on was like going to Disney Land for a six year old!

Kelly designs custom jewelry using some of the Earth's most amazing creations. All her jewelry is made with stones from the earth and she has a story for each stone describing it's healing qualities and how it came to her. I couldn't just pick one or two to show you so enjoy the images below and I dare you not to buy them all!

Sweet Evelyn

I've said this before and I will say it again; how wonderful is it to have a portrait of the loved elderly ones in your family!? Miss Evelyn is turning 95 this summer and was so excited to have her picture taken. Isn't her hair divine? She had it done a special way for pictures and couldn't wait for me to see.

Proudly Miss Evelyn posed in front of her indoor garden, her cross stitch hangings, and with some of her favorite quilts. I was honored to just be able to hear one of her lifetime stories. As I edit the images in post production I get to absorb the life she exudes and enjoy her hairdo just as much as she does and now I will share it with you.

Baby Boy Austin

This handsome boy came into the world just four days before I photographed him and he's already happy to be alive! Look at the smiles on his face and the happy belly he has.

Austin has been one of the easiest babies to photograph this year with how well he slept. I guess a good bath and a bottle before pictures is exactly what he needed. Thanks for doing such a great job Austin I can't wait to watch you grow.

Look at these faces! How fun it was to photograph such a sweet loving family on a beautiful Saturday afternoon! We had originally planned to photograph their portrait in studio; however, knowing that they are outdoor country folk and it was going to be 65 in April I suggested we headed to the park and I'm so glad we did.

Harley was the softest dog I've ever pet, Alivia was the smiliest one year old I've ever photographed, and mom and dad were such a joy to be around! Can't you just smell the freshness in the spring April air?

Miss Livi.j was born just a short week ago and the minute I heard of her mom going into labor I pulled out my camera cleaned my lens, formatted my cards, and started to imagine what amazing, snuggly images of this sweet face I will do.

Livi's arrival was highly anticipated for me as she is one of my besties lil ladies. She too is an amazing photographer so what an honor it is to be invited to her home to photograph her precious moments in life. Uncle Eskil

The following portrait is of someone's very dear brother and uncle named Eskil. It was a joy to meet and photograph Eskil in his sister's lake home. I traveled through the hilly lakeside of Mille Lacs to Wahkon, MN one early morning to meet, visit with, and photograph this gentleman.

I hold these type of portraits dear to my heart because I don't have anything like it of my grandparents and I so wish I did. I tell people over and over again how wonderful it is to capture life at these stages.

This particular portrait speaks volumes doesn't it? I can't almost hear him talking now about his stories of cars fixed, ladies met, and calluses made.

I feel like it has been forever since I posted on my blog. So today I bring you the Uber Fabulous, soon to be married couple, Matt and Holly!

As you can see in their images, this couple was at ease with each other and the camera, they were a joy to photograph. I can not wait to photograph their wedding in beautiful northern Minnesota in July. The love just ooozes from this couple and I get to capture it.

Meet Todd and Shannon. This young couple is from South Dakota and traveled all the way to the Twin Cities to have me photograph their engagement session on Valentine's Day. How Sweet!

Todd proposed to Shannon at the Sculpture Garden in Minneapolis so we had to capture that for them in their engagement pictures. Shannon sadly forgot her Vintage jacket at home that she wanted to use for the photo shoot. No worries though between her fiance and myself we directed her to Via's Vintage shop in Minneapolis and she got a great replacement! Thanks Via's Vintage!

Arizona Family Pictures

I recently took a trip to the beautifully warm Phoenix, Arizona area for a long awaited visit to my girlfriend and godson. He LOVES basketball so naturally I chose to photograph their lifestyle portrait on the court and with the ball!

I had so much fun finding new backdrops while in Arizona! I'm thinking of moving my winter business there every year!

Meet Mrs. beautiful bride Jami. Such a wonderful concept to get married on New Year's Eve! What better way to bring in the new year... looking fabulous, newly married to the one you love and celebrating it with your closest friends and family. AND most importantly, getting it all captured in photography.

I've been saving this wedding for my first post on my new blog design. It was worth the wait. Jami was so much fun to photograph and her and her sister are absolutely gorgeous. I'd love to photograph them any day.

Jami and I almost didn't meet. Out of a crazy ladies night in Jami and I met through mutual friends and it was then that I learned of her very soon upcoming wedding and the fact that she didn't have a photographer! I couldn't believe my ears and insisted she let me capture her day for her. I'm so glad she obliged!
